This study aims to examine the effects of emotional intelligence and work environment on employee performance through the mediating role of job satisfaction. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using survey data collected from 100 employees selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction and employee performance, while the work environment positively affects job satisfaction but has no significant direct effect on employee performance. Job satisfaction exerts the strongest influence on employee performance and significantly mediates the relationships between emotional intelligence, work environment, and employee performance. These findings contribute to the organizational behavior literature by providing empirical evidence that job satisfaction serves as a key psychological mechanism linking individual and organizational factors to employee performance in the public sector.
