Abstract

Kecepatan putaran turbin tertinggi yaitu 229,6 rpm.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY THE EFFECT OF COMBINATION OF BLADE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SAVONIUS WIND TURBINE

Utilization of new renewable energy sources (EBT) is a solution for human dependence on the use of energy sources derived from fossils. Wind energy is present as a simple, clean and easy-to-use energy source. To be able to utilize wind energy, a wind turbine mechanism is needed. In general, turbines are divided into 2, namely vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) and horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT). The Savonius wind turbine is suitable to be applied in Indonesia, which has a relatively low average wind speed. To get a Savonius wind turbine with good performance, the effect of design parameters and geometric parameters must be considered. Experimental testing was carried out on a conventional Savonius wind turbine and  Savonius wind turbine with a combination of blades. The test schematic is designed to approach real wind conditions. The fan blower became the source of the testing wind with 3 variations of wind speed, namely 3 m/s, 4 m/s, 5 m/s. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the Savonius wind turbine. The test results show that the highest rotational speed is obtained by a wind turbine with the addition of a combination of blades at a wind speed of 5 m/s. The highest turbine rotation speed is 229.6 rpm.
