PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN N-HEPTANA PADA HYDROUS DAN ANHYDROUS ETANOL TERHADAP KECEPATAN PEMBAKARAN
Abstract
Dalam penelitian ini diuji kecepatan pembakaran hydrous dan anhydrous ethanol yang ditambah 30% n-heptane. Pengujian dilakukan dalam ruang bakar Cylindrical explosion chamber. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan pada anhydrous ethanol tidak ada perubahan karakteristik campuran bahan bakar. Kecepatan pembakaran campuran anhydrous etanol dengan n-heptane hanya dipengaruhi komposisi campuran. Sedangkan kecepatan pembakaran campuran hydrous etanol dengan n-heptane lebih rendah dari kecepatan pembakaran bahan bakar unsur utamanya. Hal ini disebabkan hilangnya sifat azeotropik hydrous etanol dan oksigenit dalam hydrous ethanol berubah menjadi kadar air yang memiliki kapasitas penyerapan panas tinggi. Pada hydrous ethanol memiliki jumlah molekul etanol lebih sedikit dibandingkan anhydrous ethanol pada komposisi campuran yang sama.
